As our topic this half term is life cycles we thought it would be a good idea to have our own pet caterpillars to look after! This way we could observe the changes in the life-cycle every day!
When the caterpillar's arrived they were tiny! We passed them around in a circle and discussed what we need to remember when we were holding the caterpillars. Every morning we checked the caterpillars to see how they had changed. After four days the caterpillars had grown very big and began to spin their cocoons. The children waited patiently for the caterpillars to turn into butterflies it took ten days for the first one to hatch! Once all the butterflies were ready we headed over to the woodland area to set them free! It was fantastic to see them flutter into the sky.
