Year 2 have enjoyed reading our recent focus text 'The Necklace of Raindrops' by Joan Aiken. During this unit of learning, we discussed the story's introduction and how it is written to hook the reader. We began by thinking about the mood of the story's introduction, and the characters in it, then created our own artistic depiction of this scene. Later in the week we wrote our own version of the story introduction, making sure to include noun phrases and speech. Finally, we enjoyed writing an acrostic poem based on the opening scene of the story, in which each sentence began with the first letter of a key character's name!
