Citizens Advice Hackney at Shoreditch Park

We are excited to share that Citizens Advice Hackney has chosen us as a partner school for their Advice in Schools project. This means that we will have an advisor from Citizens Advice based in school one day a week and that parents will be able to attend free advice appointments in school rather than going to the office on Mare Street.

The advisor will be able to support families in variety of ways including:

  • Providing information and support regarding welfare benefits (DLA, PIP, Universal Credit, other benefits)
  • Offering support with housing (housing disrepair, difficulties with private renting, local authority/housing association)
  • Support with managing debt (council tax arrears, rent arrears, personal debts etc.)
  • Employment support
  • Cost of Living support (fuel vouchers, food vouchers/charitable support or grants)
  • Information and support with energy bills (fuel and water)
  • Immigration support

The team from Citizens Advice Hackney will run an information session on the 23rd March between 9-10am in the Parent and Community Room. In the session the CAH team will provide information about their service and the ways in which they can support SPPS families. They will also give parents the chance to share what they would find most helpful from the service.  It would be great if as many parents as possible can attend the meeting. Refreshments will be provided.

Citizens Advice Hackney hope to have advice sessions up and running in school after the Easter break.

Tasneem Kabir is our new Advisor from Citizens Advice Hackney.
