Curriculum Workshops

Reading with your child at home

Date: Wednesday 27th November
Time: 09:05 - 09:45am
Location: Parent and Community Room

Children in Years 3-6 follow a specific reading programme called Destination Reader. This has been developed to promote hildren’s love of reading as well as improve their reading skills. Destination Reader focuses on these key principles which we embed within the school:

  • Enable quality experience
  • Promote enjoyment
  • Increase reading mileage
  • Build firm foundations
  • Develop thinking and understanding
  • Make talk central

You are invited to attend to a Parent Reading Workshop lead by the KS2 Reading Team. The workshop will explain in more detail what Destination Reader is as well as how you can help your child with their reading at home. Of course there will also be a chance to raise any concerns you may have about reading.

Staying Safe Online

Date: Friday 6th December
Time: 09:00 - 10:00am
Location: Parent and Community Room

The internet is an amazing resource and is part of everyday 21st century life.  However supporting your child to stay online can be challenging to manage.  Online safety is covered in school as part of the computing curriculum but supporting children to be safe on line works best when it is a team approach.  Therefore we would like to invite you into school to:

  • To reflect upon the potential risk of internet use for children
  • To explore ways in which to keep children safe online
  • To understand how to support children online
