Reception has had a fantastic week celebrating Art Week. We have been learning all about African Art. The children have loved learning more about Africa through the different stories we have read such as ‘We are going on a safari’ by Laurie Kreb and ‘Lila and the secret of Rain’ by David Conway. The children have also enjoyed looking and learning about different African art, looking at the patterns and the shapes used. The children have been really engaged in this week’s activities including
- African animal paintings
- collaging kente cloth
- using shapes to make African inspired patterns
- exploring African animals through small world role play
- dancing and movement inspired by African animals
- listening to African music
