In PoR, we explored our core text: Varmints by Helen Ward. We used story mapping to organise the key events in the story. Subsequently, we learnt how to box up details to plan a retell by organising ideas into key paragraphs; including a range of vocabulary from the text; and adding a variation of openers to support sequencing and structure.
In Science, we learnt how to describe how some plants reproduce. By the end of the lesson, children were able to explain the difference between sexual and asexual reproduction; identify the functions of the parts of a flower; and describe ways that plants are pollinated in order to reproduce.
